ABOUT OUR PROJECT
DESCRIPTION
The activities of this project focus on cooking and using English language. Students will give the recipes of their traditional food and the others will follow their recipes. There will be main steps and sub steps of this project. For the main steps one of the country will give the recipe amnd the other countries will follow that recipe. The process will go on like this until all the countries give recipe.
Students’ will be introduced countries’ cuisines all over the world and will participate in collaborative creative activities which enable them to grow socially and emotionally. Students will work in mixed nationality groups to give recipes, follow the recipe, comment on various food and grade the others. They will work together on creative activities.
OBJECTIVES
Our main goal with this project is to create awareness of the similarities and the difference of the cuisine of the different countries. With the help of this project they will get the chance to cook foreign traditional dishes.
Here are the list of our objectives. We are carrying on this project;
- to motivate learners to speak and read in English.
- to motivate learners to cook different dishes.
- to familiarize the students with various cooking methods.
- to bring to the surface the pernonal interests of each student and highlight their individual talents and cooking ability.
- to foster creativity and development of the child’s imagination and World vision.
PROCEDURE
This project consists of some basic steps and the others will be determined with the members. It will last for four months.
In March the students will prepare logos and posters for the ğrohect and we will choose the best ogo and poster that reflect our project best. After that the students and the teachers are going to introduce themselves. Later on the students introduce their schools.
In April and May we are going to give recipes and cook the dishes. This step will be determined according to the number of the participants. Generally one country will give the recipe and all the other countries will cook that dish. The number of the dishes and recipes will be defined when the project starts.
The students will use different web 2.0 tools to give recipes. While they are cooking they will shoot videos than share them on twinspace. Then all the students grade eacher others’ work, which foster their communication and collaboration. At the end of each cooking step we will choose the best dish just for fun.
For a final and collaborative product we will shoot a video of a meal that is common in all countries. Each country will shoot one step of the dish such as preparing the ingredients, washing them, slicing them, cooking and serving etc. Then we will put together the videos. Our second final product will be a cook book. We will create an e-book with the dishes we will have cooked.
OUTCOME
At the end of this project the students will;
-become competent with English.
- gain mutual understanding with each others.
